LIVER (slides 137,139,140 and 141)

Slide 141 shows particles of either charcoal (black) or dye (blue) which have been taken up by the Kupffer cells lying in the sinusoids. Compare slides with a neighbor. The black particles are readily seen at low power; the blue is more subtle and needs higher magnification. Some of the macrophages are heavily loaded; others have few enough particles so that you can see the nucleus and the cytoplasmic boundaries better.
