Slides 57 (L.S.) - Peripheral nerve show peripheral nerve in H&E and are not well preserved.  This appearance is often encountered in routine lab specimens.  How would you go about identifying it as peripheral nerve and not muscle or tendon?  Notice in the x-cut that the neurokeratin of the myelin sheath shows the spokes of a wheel appearance that is often described.  Also, the axons themselves are not shrunken and fill the whole space within the myelin sheath.
