SLIDE 66 - PACINIAN CORPUSCLE

This is a sensory receptor for vibratory and deep pressure sense.  You will see it later in skin, but this present specimen is a whole mount of mesentery stained with carmine (notice the C.T. fibers, capillaries, and adipose tissue in the background).

Look for large, oval bodies with onion-like layers of specialized connective tissue surrounding a central, dense, red process (the dendritic receptor ending).  This is considered an encapsulatednerve ending.  In terms of a reflex arc, where do the cell bodies of these endings lie?
